Promise me, a momma plea. (Written by Lindsay on October 27,2025)
Death, tragedy happens and the community surrounds and loves the family. It’s such a beautiful thing. But our human instincts go back to our own lives and our own trials and tribulations. It’s expected, it’s what we all do – but one thing I personally started to implement was to remember past the one week, the one month. I don’t send the flowers right way, send the flowers a couple weeks later when the other flowers begins to die, I send the flowers a month later when there are no more flowers present in the house. Send flowers a year later because it still hurts.
The family is numb and overwhelmed in those first weeks of tragedy and loss but it’s forever – their loved one is gone forever.
Send the prayers 2 months, 6 months etc – Send the flowers, the meals, the texts and notes well after their loved one passed.
I don’t want to be a sad story, my family doesn’t either and we’d do anything to just be unknown walking through life but please promise me you wouldn’t forget my kids are missing their mom, my husband no longer has a wife and little gestures of love well after I’m gone will mean so much once I am gone.
my PSA – i challenge everyone reading this to remember someone who lost someone they loved in the last 6 months or maybe even 18 years and reach out and say you care because those families are still grieving, they are still missing their loved one.
And promise me, you will not forget about my family and always surround them with prayer, love and support.
Love and grace with a big FU to my cancer,
Lindsay
